3Wire RS2MRC | Modbus Register Converter Gateway
3Wire RS2MRC · Modbus Register Converter
Replace the Modbus Device.
Keep the Existing System.
RS2MRC translates the replacement device’s Modbus registers into the structure already expected by your PLC, SCADA, DCS or BMS.
The retrofit challenge
The replacement device may be simple. Reprogramming the system is not.
A replacement meter or sensor may perform the same function as the obsolete unit, but different register addresses, function codes or scaling can force expensive changes to the master system.
Without RS2MRC
- New device uses a different register map
- PLC or DCS program requires modification
- SCADA and BMS tags must be remapped
- Alarms, graphics and historian points may change
- Original integrator may need to be mobilised
With RS2MRC
- RS2MRC translates the replacement register map
- The master continues using existing addresses
- Supported function codes are converted
- Data values are scaled where required
- The replacement behaves like the original device
How it works
A transparent bridge between the existing master and replacement device
Key capabilities
Built for industrial Modbus retrofit projects
Register Mapping
Map up to 150 registers from the replacement device to the addresses expected by the master.
Read Conversion
Convert between Modbus Function Codes 03H and 04H where required.
Write Operations
Support Modbus write commands using Function Codes 06H and 10H.
Value Scaling
Apply addition, subtraction, multiplication or division to convert data values.
RS-485 Isolation
Electrical isolation between master and slave RS-485 networks.
Industrial Installation
DIN-rail or screw mounting with a 12–30VDC power supply.
Typical applications
Where RS2MRC creates immediate value
Replace obsolete meters without changing existing mappings.
Integrate new equipment where DCS changes are restricted.
Preserve existing BMS points, alarms and operating logic.
Retain existing tags, screens and historian mappings.
Map replacement meter data to configured master addresses.
Normalise Modbus data before forwarding it to other systems.
Technical overview
Compact technical specifications
Final suitability depends on the existing and replacement register maps, function codes, data types, byte order and scaling requirements.
